The "Rolli Lab" call was created to find new ways to improve the city's impact of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Genova: Le Strade Nuove e il Sistema dei Palazzi dei Rolli."
The call is addressed to aspiring designers and entrepreneurs, start-ups, small and medium enterprises, associations, spin-offs and individuals who may apply individually or in teams.
Rolli Lab is a project born and raised within the Municipality of Genoa, in a partnership with Fondazione Santagata for the Economics of Culture, that offers support to the most creative ideas and aims to create a dynamic relationship between the historical heritage of the city and innovation nor the historical center and the city itself. The central focus of Rolli Lab is a more inclusive and sustainable approach towards territorial integration, urban development, accessibility, and usability of areas with a keen eye to the economic repercussions of these actions.
The areas of interest of the Rolli Lab call include the UNESCO site that needs to be taken care of and the buffer zone around it. The goal is to create a transversal path to connect different areas of the city, from the historical center, the object of particular attention by the administration with the Caruggi Plan, to the Genova Blue District, a place of ideas and innovation related to the Blue Economy and the Lanterna, the lighthouse symbol of the city.
Four are the areas of action:
- Genova Tutela: conservation and monitoring of the heritage;
- Genova Promuove: for the promotion of the old city area to the enhancement of the Rolli buildings and Strade Nuove;
- Genova Coinvolge: to promote and involve citizens on the subject;
- Genova Accoglie: for the visitor management and accessibility of the cultural heritage
The call is open until the 18th of April 2022 to send and apply with an innovative project about the UNESCO heritage site of "Genova: Le Strade Nuove e il sistema dei palazzi dei Rolli"!
The winners will receive a cash prize and will be celebrated during Rolli Days!
